On November 11 AP4D made a submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Inquiry into supporting democracy in our region.
The submission draws on the results of consultations with almost 250 development, diplomacy and defence experts conducted as part of AP4D’s inaugural program: Shaping a shared future — deepening Australia’s influence in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
Australia is well-placed to support democracy in Southeast Asia and the Pacific through promoting civil-military collaboration, investing in civil society, supporting good governance, contributing to digital resilience and leveraging its autonomous sanctions regime.
